Additive manufacturing of borosilicate glass via stereolithography

چکیده

Recent surge in additive manufacturing efforts demonstrate stereolithography as a promising technique for fabricating glass materials due to the high speed and scalability of process. However, little have been devoted manufacture borosilicate by stereolithographic One challenges is that its relatively low softening temperatures could interfere with thermal post-printing process introduce poor fidelity structure instability. Here, we report on first demonstration cerium-doped (Ce-doped) (<10%) undoped which was enabled multi-step post processing. The optical properties printed depend processing parameters (temperature, time, environment) can be readily tuned optimized wide range applications. amorphous shows good structural stability band gap 3 eV, Urbach energy 0.75 eV refractive index 2.14 8% Ce-doped glass, respectively. These results indicate fabricated suitable scintillator applications fabrication.

Additive Manufacturing of Optically Transparent Glass

We present a fully functional material extrusion printer for optically transparent glass. The printer is comprised of scalable modular elements, able to operate at the high temperatures required to process glass from a molten state to an annealed product. We demonstrate a process enabling the construction of 3D parts as described by Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. Processing parameters such...

Structure of Rhenium-Containing Sodium Borosilicate Glass

A series of sodium borosilicate glasses were synthesized with KReO4 or Re2O7, to 10,000 ppm (1 mass%) target Re, to assess effects of large concentrations of rhenium on glass structure and fto estimate solubility of Tc, a radioactive component in low active waste nuclear glasses. Rhenium was used as a surrogate for Tc for laboratory testing, due to similarities in chemistry, ionic size, and red...

Image-Based Slicing and Tool Path Planning for Hybrid Stereolithography Additive Manufacturing

Hybrid stereolithograpgy (SLA) process synthesizes the laser scanning based SLA system and mask projection based SLA system. It adopts laser as the energy source for scanning the border of a 2D pattern, whereas a mask image is used to solidify the interior area. By integrating the merits of the two subsystems, the hybrid SLA process can achieve relatively high surface quality without sacrificin...

Micro-structuring the surface reactivity of a borosilicate glass via thermal poling

Thermal poling was proven successful to induce second order nonlinear properties and concurrent modification of composition, structure and chemical reactivity in glasses. With current efforts to reduce devices sizes in components employing such attributes, means to control changes at the micrometer scale are needed. We present a micro-imprinting poling process to locally tailor surface properti...

Application of Additive Manufacturing in Marine Industry

The advantage of additive manufacturing (AM) (e.g. reasonable time and expense in prototyping, and reliable product) has triggered the idea of using this method in manufacturing of marine vessels components. The current article tries to introduce basic concepts of AM method and its application in marine industry; have a glance at additive-manufactured parts microstructure; elaborate the challen...
